Questions

Fencing FAQs

How deep do you set fence posts?

Posts are set to a minimum of 600mm below ground in concrete, deeper for taller panels or exposed gardens — depth is adjusted to your ground conditions and fence height.

Do I need permission to put up a fence?

Most garden boundary fencing under 2m (or 1m next to a highway) doesn't need planning permission, but we'll flag it if your project falls outside permitted development.

Timber or composite — which lasts longer?

Composite boards typically outlast timber before needing attention, but well-treated closeboard fencing with concrete posts still gives many years of service — we'll talk through the trade-offs for your garden.

Do you remove the old fence?

Yes, removal and disposal of the existing fence and posts is included in your quote unless you'd rather keep sections yourself.
